Conservation areas
Meols Drive and The King's Gap are both conservation areas. If your house is in one, check with Wirral Council before changing the front boundary, walls or gates.
Coastal sun and sand
Use a UV-stable (aliphatic) resin on open, sunny drives so the surface doesn't yellow. Brush away blown sand regularly so the surface keeps draining.
Permeable base
Laid over a new porous base, resin bound lets rain drain through, which helps on low-lying coastal plots. Laid over old tarmac or concrete, it won't. We'll tell you which one your quote is for.

FAQ
Hoylake questions
Is resin bound permeable?
Only when it's laid on a permeable base. Laid over existing tarmac or concrete, water runs off the same way it does now.
Do I need permission on Meols Drive?
A permeable drive doesn't need planning permission in itself. Front boundaries and walls can be controlled in a conservation area, so check with Wirral Council first.
